Online Games Chicago Players Can’t Resist

There are gamers all over the world, but gamers in Chicago are something else entirely. Whether it is decimating their opponents in a battle royal game, or just playing casually, the fact remains that people in the Windy City love playing games online. Here are some of the games most played in Chicago.

Fortnite

Fortnite is a third-person shooter, where you try your best to survive in a hectic environment with your friends and build your shelter while you do. Scout the land in search of resources needed to build forts and weapons you’ll need to survive against monsters. The game mode that has gained a lot of popularity recently is Battle Royale, where it’s every player for themselves. The nifty thing is that you can build your fort on the go, during the incoming fire, which makes for interesting strategies.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds – PUBG

PUBG is a battle royale game slightly different from Fortnite. Here, you drop from the sky and scout the land in search for weapons and items. As time passes, the terrain keeps shrinking, instantly killing everyone outside the border. It’s a fun and frustrating game that Chicago players enjoy, though not as much as Fortnite.

Esports

My wife still can’t believe esports are a thing. While whole books could be written on how they work and what goes on there, I will limit myself by talking about games that get a lot of media attention and huge prize pools in tournaments.

League of Legends

The child of DotA, League of Legends is a multiplayer online battle arena. You are assigned to one of two teams, choose a champion based on your skill set and what the team needs, and try to take out the other team following map goals. The only downside is that the games can get the roles somewhat iron-clad, with no room for flexibility. Additionally, the rest of the global community is known to be toxic.

Street Fighter V

One of the most popular fighting games on the planet, Street Fighter V is the latest installment that focuses on fighting between our favorite characters. The game is constantly updated, with missions and achievements, and the frame rate differs depending on whether you play online, or offline, thus preventing you from learning all the tricks against the computer and doing them the same way against an opponent from the other side of the world.

Tekken 7

Here is another fighting game that has captured our hearts. Tekken 7 is one of the fighting games played during the Red Bull Conquest in April in Chicago, along with Street Fighter V and Guilty Gear Xrd REV2. The story of the game keeps getting more complex, and there are now even more characters and special moves to choose from. A feature that wasn’t present in the previous installments of the game is the ultimate move with a nice clip of one character wailing on the other.
